Welcome to Whitman!

At Walt Whitman Elementary, we provide a quality learning experience for every student, every day, without exception. With our amazing teachers, parents, and community working together, we ensure that all our students are capable of success.

Expanded learning

We offer a wide array of extracurricular enrichments during non-school hours. We provide dinner for participating students and then host a number of clubs like Sports Club and Debate Club. Expanded learning helps our students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math, through creative approaches to learning. We also offer literacy training to the families of our students.

Focus on the whole child

We are one of five recipients of the Wallace Foundation's Social/Emotional Learning Grant, aimed at supporting the development of children's cognitive, interpersonal, and character-building skills through an improved curriculum. Creating high-quality learning experiences means educating the whole child by meeting his or her social, emotional, and academic needs. With strong social and emotional skills, our students will be able to set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
