All visitors are required to check in with the office to receive a visitor's pass. Thank you for supporting this procedure in order to keep your child as safe as possible.
It is very important that your child has regular attendance in order to have continuous educational progress. If your child is sick and unable to attend school, call the school office at 925-1380 or email before 9:00 a.m. or you will be contacted regarding your child’s absence. Please help see that your child is prompt in arriving at school. By state law we are required to report excessive tardies and abscences to the District Attorney. Breakfast is served in the classroom until 8:00am.
The school day is from 7:45 am until 2:45 p.m.
Whitman opens its doors at 7:30am on the east side of the building. Children should arrive at school between 7:30-7:45 a.m on the east side and go straight to the gym for morning assembly. The east doors will be locked at 8:00. At that time, the south side doors will be open and all students, parents and visitors will need to enter from that side. All students arriving after 8:00am will need to stop at the office to receive a tardy pass for class.
The Board of Education has approved a district-wide student dress code for Tulsa Public Schools. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the policy, discuss it with your family, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the principal of the school.
Your child may bring lunch or receive a plate lunch. Children who qualify for free or reduced price lunches must submit a new application for each school year. Lunches are charged only in emergencies, and no more than two may accumulate before steps are taken to contact parents and collect for those charges. Adult lunches includes salad bar. For answers to your questions about the free/reduced lunch program or other food service concerns, please contact the cafeteria manager, Mrs. Morrow.

Parents wishing to pick their children up before the final bell at 2:45 must check in with the office and sign the child out. You will be given a dismissal slip which the teacher will require in order to release the child to you. Thank you for supporting us in this process in order to keep your child as safe as possible.
All students waiting for day care or parents will be dismissed from the east doors. We ask that parents and day cares remain in their vehicles. A school employee will come to your car and will call for your child. This not only keeps children from the elements of the weather but also assures we can keep them as safe as possible while they are waiting for their ride. Please keep in mind, your child's safety is our top priority. Thank you.
If your child requires medication during school hours, please check with our school health clerk, Ms. Breshears, to obtain a form which must be signed by the parent. Remember, we cannot give any medication, even aspirin, without the form “Authorization for administration of Medication During School Day” completed and signed.
